Jamex Logistics Group (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Jrive car rental platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you visit our website, create an account, or make a reservation. Please read it carefully. By using our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

1. What We Collect

When you create an account, make a reservation, or contact us, we may collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identity data: Full name, date of birth, driver’s licence number, and a copy of your licence or government-issued photo ID.
  • Contact data: Email address, telephone number(s), and postal or residential address.
  • Booking data: Vehicle selected, rental dates and times, pickup and return location, and booking reference numbers.
  • Payment data: We do not store raw card numbers. Card transactions are processed by Stripe, Inc. under PCI-DSS controls. We retain only the last four digits and payment status for record-keeping.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and version, device identifiers, pages visited, and timestamps, collected automatically via cookies and server logs.
  • Communications data: Records of emails, SMS, or WhatsApp messages exchanged with our team.

We collect only information that is necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Failure to provide mandatory information may prevent us from completing your reservation.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • Fulfilling your reservation: Processing bookings, generating your rental agreement, coordinating vehicle pickup and return, and sending confirmation communications.
  • Identity verification: Confirming that you hold a valid driver’s licence and meet our eligibility requirements before releasing a vehicle.
  • Payment processing: Charging rental fees, holding and releasing security deposits, and issuing receipts.
  • Customer support: Responding to enquiries, complaints, and any incidents that arise during the rental period.
  • Legal and regulatory compliance: Meeting our obligations under Jamaican law, including the Road Traffic Act, and cooperating with law enforcement or insurance investigations when required.
  • Safety and fraud prevention: Detecting fraudulent activity, preventing unauthorised use of our platform, and protecting our fleet.
  • Service improvement: Analysing aggregate, anonymised usage data to improve our website, booking flow, and overall customer experience.
  • Marketing: Sending promotional emails or SMS messages about offers and new vehicles, but only where you have opted in or where we have a legitimate interest to do so. You may opt out at any time.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your personal data is stored in Supabase, a managed cloud database platform hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Supabase applies industry-standard security controls including encryption at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+), row-level security policies, and role-based access controls.

Access to your personal data within our organisation is restricted to staff members who need it to perform their role. All team members with database access are bound by confidentiality obligations.

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes set out in this policy or as required by applicable Jamaican law. Booking records and associated identity documents are retained for a minimum of five (5) years from the date of rental to satisfy our insurance and legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see “Your Rights” below); however, we may be required to retain certain records by law.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Trusted vendors who assist us in operating our platform: Supabase (database hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email), and Twilio (SMS and WhatsApp notifications). Each provider is contractually bound to handle your data only as instructed and in accordance with applicable data protection law.
  • Insurance companies: In the event of a vehicle accident, theft, or damage claim, we may share relevant booking and identity information with our insurers or their appointed representatives.
  • Law enforcement and legal process: We will disclose personal data to police, courts, or regulatory authorities when required by a lawful order, warrant, subpoena, or other legal process under Jamaican law.
  • Business transfers: If Jamex Logistics Group is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred, your personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to provide functionality, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site.

  • Essential cookies: Required for core functions such as maintaining your login session and the security of your account. These cannot be disabled without breaking key features of the platform.
  • Functional cookies: Store your preferences such as currency selection and booking state across page loads.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand page popularity and user journeys in aggregate, anonymised form. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
  • Restriction: Ask us to limit the processing of your data in certain circumstances, for example while a dispute is being resolved.
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time by clicking “Unsubscribe” in any email we send, replying STOP to any SMS, or contacting us directly.
